We used to have structures, rules, traditions

With the traditions gone we were left with symbols

We pointed to things like god and love and freedom as if they meant something

As if they would (ideally) hold together what was left of the structure

But the structure grew weaker and the symbol that represented it grew less meaningful

And a lot of people were trapped under the collapse of that structure

It’s confusing to live under the tyranny of a symbol that can no longer contain you

I think what makes people uncomfortable is to build new frameworks where symbols once existed

It’s not so hard with practice

A framework replacement for love is compatibility

The replacement for god is personality

The replacement for freedom is?
