Words unspoken grow like vines

Wrap around my neck

But the heart was not enough

To keep it all inside

The silent folding

Of a hard man

Disrupted the story I told

He wanted to know what was down there

Down in the abyss of my soul

What secrets I was scared to hold to light

Scared of knowing myself

But we have to see

Because the world is too small for the three of us

So I tell myself

That curiosity is a discipline

And all the things

My father never said
