I remember how

Looking at him was

Like looking directly at the sun

The stars came out to dance all night.

Maybe if I grew taller I’d reach them

One day, some how

Hollow glistening chorus they sang to me

And me only:

Beautiful people should not hurt so much

I thought I caught a shooting star

When I caught his eye

Oh, I was brought to my knees

By his strange compassion

His generosity

Was a labyrinth

Unravelling the center of me

He washed over me

Again and again

Like a tide smoothing over rocky land

Over a millenia

My life will go on, down here

Short days in human time
